Pekoe Trail
The Pekoe Trail is Sri Lanka’s premier long-distance hiking route, stretching across the central highlands through tea estates, mountains, forests, and rural villages. It is designed as a multi-day trekking experience that connects iconic hill country areas such as Ella, Haputale, Nuwara Eliya, and Kandy.
The trail follows historic paths once used during the British colonial tea plantation era, giving travelers a mix of natural beauty and cultural heritage. Along the way, hikers experience panoramic viewpoints, waterfalls, misty valleys, tea pluckers at work, and authentic village life.
It is considered one of the best ways to explore Sri Lanka’s hill country beyond sightseeing, offering an immersive, slow-travel experience focused on nature, sustainability, and local culture.
